THANK YOU FOR A WINTER OF READING!
We've come to the end of an absolutely outstanding winter of reading! Prize winners will be announced/contacted by the end of the week, but first we want to take a moment to share our program stats and thank our sponsors.
Winter Reading 2022-2023 was a massive success! With 71 prize packs donated by 46 different businesses, our anticipation for the program was great. Incredibly, the final results far exceeded our expectations. 315 patrons of all ages signed up for the Hooked on Books reading program. Last year, we had 198 total readers. This 59% increase was a huge achievement!
Hooked on Books participants collectively logged 810,549 minutes (or 13,509 hours) of reading! They borrowed books from the library, from our two e-libraries, or read off their bookshelves at home. To put it in context, summer reading participants clocked 802,179 minutes of reading in 2022. We beat our summer totals - even though summer is the time of year when people typically have more free time!
Thanks again North Manchester for another incredible reading program... now who is ready for the summer program!?

THE PRIZES
Once again, we have some INCREDIBLE prizes thanks to our amazing community sponsors!

THE GAME
In keeping with the pirate theme, participants can pick up treasure maps to inspire reading through different genres during the course of the 2 month event. Patron will still need to track their reading and enter their tickets on Beanstack, but the maps will inspire patrons to explore new reading horizons and to have a fun visual way to track minutes read.
COMMUNITY STICKER PROJECT
NMPL is also excited to announce a community component, with readers earning the opportunity to add to a mystery Paint by Sticker poster at the library as they log reading. Each time a reader reads 5 hours, they’ll earn stickers to add to the poster. The image starts as a mystery and it builds as everyone adds stickers to create a surprising masterpiece!
