Whether you simply cannot fit another outing into your schedule but still want to enjoy NMPL programming; are looking to explore new hobbies in the peace of your own home; or just want to try something new without having to invest in start up costs, Makerspace-2-Go is for you! Makerspace-2-Go features take-home kits (to tie-in with virtual online programming), board games, puzzles, activity kits and more. Want to experiment with stop motion? Check out a kit! In need of a hammer for a craft project? Check out our tool box! Interested in experimenting with virtual reality? Check out a Google Cardboard box! Want to give Bullet Journals a whirl? Grab a Bullet Journal activity pack! 

All items may be checked out by NMPL library card holders (no MCS Student cards or reciprocal cards), and items may be checked out for one week at a time. (Programming kits can be picked up by anyone - no card necessary!) 
M2G items must be returned inside the library. They may not be left in the outside dropbox. 

MAKERSPACE-2-GO: CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT

While patrons of all ages are invited to check out our Children's Makerspace-2-Go items, these items are specifically
​geared ​for Pre-K through 6th ages and skill sets. 

ACTIVITY KITS
​Are cries of "I'm bored!" "What can I do now?" "I don't WANNA do that!", echoing through your house? NMPL is here to save the day... with Activity Kits! These amazing kits are sure to cure even the most bored child and keep them occupied for hours! Each kit includes all the supplies you will need to create an amazing art project, as well as information on which parts of the kit you get to keep, and which part you bring back to NMPL. Dot Markers, Mini-Stamps, Stamp, Watercolor & Strawbuilder kits will provide an afternoon of crafty fun!

CODE-A-PILLAR
Not all bugs are disgusting! This ADORABLE colorful Code-A-Pillar is the perfect way to get kids to think directionally, practice problem solving, and learn simple coding! Experiment with different building combinations and methods and test it out by setting up obstacle courses. See if you can program the Pillar to move through the course without bumping into anything! The kit comes with a simple instruction guide and all the supplies you need for a fun evening! The Code-A-Pillar can be checked out for a week at a time ($5 late fee for each day overdue) and must be returned at the front desk (no book drop returns please).​

PBS KIDS TABLETS
Keep the kids occupied with a PBS Kids Tablet!  The PBS Kids Tablets allow children to watch live streams of PBS TV shows, play pre-loaded games, and experiment with basic coding.  All content is both fun and educational.  We have 5 of these kid friendly tablets available for checkout for in-library use.  They can be used anywhere in the library, making them the perfect choice to keep the kids entertained when you need to bring them along with you to the Study Room or newspaper section.  They're also a great option for times when all the children's computers are booked.​

Most kits come with an accompanying instructional Facebook video, ensuring a stress-free time of crafting!

TEST THE WATERS - FAMILY EXPLORATION KIT
In partnership with Cornerstones of Science and the NIH All of Us Research Program, the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) is offering an exciting new citizen science resource to public libraries. The Test the Waters Family Exploration Kit is a fun, accessible, loanable kit which includes four family friendly activities, and all the instructions and materials needed (audio file guides are available in in Arabic, Chinese, English, Spanish and Vietnamese)!
