Storytime is today at 11am! Join us for silly songs, a fun story, and this ADORABLY festive Christmas tree craft! We're excited for another session of our new Weave It program, today at 3:45pm! At today's session, a paper plate becomes the loom on which to weave a bowl just right for holding knick-knacks. Participants will gain new skills in holding the right amount of tension to achieve a desired end. Our Basics of American Sign Language Class is tonight at 6pm in the Blocher Room. (Masks are required.) American Sign Language is a natural language that serves as the predominant sign language of Deaf communities in the United States. ASL is a complete and organized visual language that is expressed by facial expression as well as movements and motions with the hands.
This class will cover basics of American Sign Language which will consist of the 5 parameters of ASL, the alphabet, common greetings, and introductions. There will be a game or two sprinkled in between the lessons as well! This program is open to kids, teens, and adults - we encourage you to bring the whole family to learn a new way to communicate! This class will be taught by Elliot Sklar, a senior at Goshen College, who is double majoring in American Sign Language and Secondary Education. Over the past 4 years he has been both learning and teaching ASL, and is planning to graduate and go into the public schooling system to put those two majors to use!
