Alma Thomas was an important role model for women, African-American artists, and older artists alike (she was recognized for her paintings after her retirement from teaching). She was also the first African-American woman to have a solo exhibition of her work at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art.
In today's 2pm session of Homeschool Art Class, children will learn about the artist and her use of color and patterns to create abstract art. The session will begin with a short presentation in the Blocher Community Room and will be followed by an activity inspired by Thomas’s work. Wearing clothes that can get messy is always a good idea!
Registration is required for every child planning to attend. There is still space available in today's class, so call the library to sign up! Participants are encouraged to bring a folder to keep any coloring pages or fact sheets they are given during the class. Masks are required for all indoor programs.
REMINDER: A veteran Homeschool Art Class attendee? Please remember, you must register for EACH session of Homeschool Art Class. Thank you!
