NMPL TO RE-OPEN BLOCHER COMMUNITY ROOM FOR BOOKING

6/28/2021

The North Manchester Public Library is excited to once again re-open the Blocher Community Room for community use. As of Tuesday, July 6th, interested parties can once again start booking the popular space for events taking place any time during or after the month of September. The room will officially open in September, but NMPL encourages patrons to book in advance to guarantee a spot!

Over the years, the Blocher Community Room has become a popular meeting place for local clubs and organizations, as well as a recreational space for those hosting baby showers, parties, and celebrations.
The hours of the room are Monday through Saturday from 7am to 10pm. The room is not booked on Sundays or on holidays.

With the re-opening of the room, the NMPL is also introducing an updated board-approved policy. The room will be able to be used by non-profit and community groups for a $40 refundable deposit, while private events and parties can use the room for a non-refundable renters fee.

The amount for private events will be based upon hours of use. Reservations lasting four (4) hours or less will be charged a rental fee of forty dollars ($40.00) and reservation times over four (4) hours will be charged a rental fee of sixty dollars ($60.00). This new policy will help offset the cost of upkeep and maintenance to the room, in addition to covering the utilities that are used during renting.

Bookings must be done at the library, but those wanting to check the availability of a date can call the library at (260) 982-4773. For more information, please visit our Blocher Room page.

Due to the continued spikes in COVID-19 nationwide, Governor Holcomb has extended Stage 4.5 for Indiana. NMPL will continue to follow this stage and continue our modified hours of operation. However, in order to better serve those who are unable to make it to the library during the week, beginning Saturday, July 25th, we will be adding modified Saturday hours to our schedule!
Picture
MODIFIED HOURS:
Monday-Thursdays 11am-12pm - Seniors & Immunocompromised Hour; 12pm-6pm - General Public
Fridays & Saturdays 11am-12pm - Seniors & Immunocompromised Hour; 12pm-3pm - General Public
Closed on Sundays

Curbside Services will continue as usual, and requests can be made 24/7 via our website or via phone Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm. Pick up times are Mondays and Wednesdays from 12pm-6pm, and Friday from 12pm to 4pm.

Meeting Rooms (Blocher Room, Study & Conference Room, Makerspace) will remain closed for the foreseeable future. The library will limit the number of adult and children department computers available to ensure that social distancing recommendations are followed. The children’s department playroom will remain closed. During this stage, children will also need to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver when visiting the library.

Staff members are wearing personal protective equipment and the library has sneeze guards at all the circulation desks. Following CDC guidelines, the library continues to disinfect and quarantine all returned items, as well as maintaining elevated cleaning and sanitizing procedures of public areas. Sanitizer stations are set up all over the library for patron use. Patrons are strongly encouraged to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines when visiting the library.

The library will continue to stay in touch with local health officials and will continue to carefully monitor the spread of Covid-19. We will assess weekly in regards to resuming regular hours, and will post any updates on our website and social media pages.

The safety of our staff and patrons remains our first priority and we thank North Manchester for the continued support!
