COOK A BOOK: COCONUT MATCHA BALLS
Friday, May 1st @ 11am on Facebook
Energy balls never fail to satisfy a sweet tooth. They give you a boost when you hit a mid-day slump. They're the perfect size for curbing kids' hunger pangs without spoiling their appetites. Energy balls are super portable and easy to tuck in a lunch box or pack along on a hike. As a bonus, many of them are vegan and sugar free, too!

Honestly, they're just fabulous in so many ways and we couldn't be more excited to make this recipe from "The Buddhist Chef: 100 Simple, Feel-Good Vegan Recipes" by Jean-Phillipe Cyr (available at the library)!
If you'd like to cook along with us on Facebook Live make sure you have a food processor and the following ingredients:
  • Cashews (pour boiling water over them and allow to soak for 10 minutes prior to the start of Cook a Book).
  • Dates
  • Shredded Coconut
  • Coconut Oil
  • Powdered Matcha Tea
  • Salt
  • Crushed Pistachios (optional)

Today: #nmplundercover Friday & Cook a Book

4/24/2020

It's #nmplundercover Friday!!! (...we're a little excited.) For those who may not know, during this quarantine, we've been challenging patrons to take the #nmplundercover challenge and recreate the covers of their favorite books with family members or random household items. We've had some AMAZING entries (check them out HERE) and it's been so much fun that we wanted to dedicate one specific day of our National Library Week celebration to it. Our amazing director is starting us out strong with a absolutely flawless recreation of the book #GirlBoss. We don't even know who is who any more!

We're celebrating National Library Week virtually this year with fun, interactive daily challenges, and a chance to win an NMPL hoodie sweatshirt. Submit your entry using the hashtag #nmplundercover - we can't wait to see what you do!

It’s National Library Week and we’re celebrating virtually with fun, interactive challenges... and the chance to win an NMPL Hoodie sweatshirt!
Picture
Is this not the most aggressively 90s picture you’ve ever seen?! It’s #throwbackthursday and we want to see your vintage style! Dig back through the photo albums and show us your best looks from past decades! If you still have some of your old outfits, we challenge you to put them on yourself or the kids and show off your fabulous look!

Use the hashtag #throwbackthursday and send us those pics!
So we all know LEGOs are pretty amazing.  We've had a blast building all kinds of things out of them over the past few years of Open Lego Hour here at the library.  This week we want to challenge you to build a skyscraper!  You may not construct one as tall as the one in these picture but give yourself a challenge.  Can you build a tower as tall as your dog?  Taller than you? Higher than a piece of furniture?  Have fun with it and tag us in your pics.  We'd love to see what you come up with!
Picture
It's Storytime day! Join us for silly sing-along-songs and a fun story at 11am on Facebook live!

Did you know that the Egyptian Sphinx, a half man, half lion statue, was carved from a single piece of rock?! Learn more fun facts about the Egyptian Sphinx and then draw this ancient structure yourself at this fun interactive online program!
Supplies:
  • Canvas, paper or cardboard
  • Paint brushes
  • Paint (acrylic, watercolor, craft or tempera)
