DRAWING & STORYTELLING WITH CHILDREN'S BOOK AUTHORS & ILLUSTRATOR ROBYN & GIJSBERT VAN FRANKENHUYZEN
Saturday, September 28th @ 1pm
Gijsbert and Robbyn van Frankenhuyzen have lived on their 40-acre farm in Bath, MI, since the Fall of 1980. During their twenty-five years of wildlife rehabilitation, this unique eco-system became a safe haven for many of the orphaned and injured wild animals that they nurtured back to health. As children’s books authors and illustrator, Gijsbert and Robbyn share their love for nature in their art and their words. They visit schools, libraries, zoos and nature centers sharing with children and adults the value of journaling, the joy of drawing, and the importance of protecting our natural world.
This hour of pure fun and learning will blend natural science, journaling, storytelling, and drawing. Patrons of all ages will enjoy learning and exploring at this event!

MOVIE RATING: PG
MOVIE LENGTH: 1 hour 24 minutes
Every Wednesday in September @ 3:45pm
For the kids who only want to craft (and even for those who like other things, too!). Some of us are all about the coffee filters, glue sticks, coloring pencils, duct tape, pipe cleaners, and jars. Games are great and stories are awesome but when it's all said and done, Crafting Rules! If this sounds like you, Creative Kids is your kind of program. It's all crafting, only crafting and we have a different project to make together each week. Each session begins at 3:45 pm on Wednesdays (the same time as Teen Makers, making it a great option for younger siblings). See you soon, Creatives! (Geared towards elementary-aged kids but younger children will enjoy it with the help of an adult.)
Every Monday evening at 6pm
Come to Evening Tales for cool crafts, stellar stories and fantastic fun! Kids will play games, participate in art projects, and hear stories at this weekly program. You might want to wear your running shoes - we'll be playing LOTS of games outside!
Every Monday in September @ 3:45pm
You've seen the Perler Bead creations and Shrinky Dink keychains. You've heard about the Wii battles and Snap Circuits. It all sounds like so much fun! But you're not old enough for Between, let alone Teen Makers. What's a kid to do? Keep your eyes open for Jr. Makers! These programs are just for kids 10 and under who want to explore the many wonders of the Makerspace, but aren't old enough for our regularly scheduled programs. Join us for Jr. Makers and see what all the buzz is about!
KIDS & CANVAS
This program is currently not in session.
A canvas art program for children ages 3-12. Each child will be given a canvas with guidelines that they will paint. Each month a single painting will be featured but participants are welcome to use their creativity and paint their canvas however they would like. (45 minute program, registration required)
OPEN LEGO HOUR
Every Thursday @ 3:45pm
Hundreds - no, thousands - of LEGO bricks and pieces. No limits. No plans. Just you, your friends, and the LEGOs. Make whatever you want. Go as big (or as small as you want). Show up for Open LEGO Hour at 3:45 every Thursday and build to your heart's content. Your finished creation will go on display in the Children's Department. No need to bring anything - we have all the LEGOs you could possibly want!
Every Tuesday & Thursday @ 11am.
E. learned his ABCs - because of Storytime. N. and F. are buddies - because of Storytime.
D. knows directions - because of Storytime. Yeah, it's pretty amazing. No wonder Storytime continues to be one of our most popular programs. The songs, the stories, the crafts - it's all so much fun that even the shyest kids soon warm up and everyone ends up learning something (often without even realizing it). Our youngest attendees are just weeks old, our oldest are in elementary school. While geared towards the toddler and preschool age, babies and older children always have a blast at Storytime, too. With the perfect blend of familiar favorites and brand new activities, this program is a great way to start kids on the road to a life long love of reading and learning.
