PURPOSE
AND SCOPE: The Library Clerk is responsible for the
operation of the circulation desk, providing needed services for
library patrons, and maintaining the materials of the library.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate the circulation desk, process books both in and out, and
collect fines and charges. Answer routine reference questions
requiring limited searching. Register patrons for library cards.
Effectively use and maintain the library's automated circulation
system. Schedule the use of the Blocher Community Room and the
Conference Room. Read and straighten shelves on a regular basis.
Operate library equipment for patrons as is necessary. Instruct
patrons in the use of public access computers as is necessary.
Process new books and repair books which have been damaged. Give
knowledgeable guidance and advice to adults and children in the
choice and use of library materials, including audio-visual
equipment. Perform special tasks when called upon by the
Director or Children's Librarian.
JOB
REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate preferred but not
mandatory. Elementary typing ability; personality suited to one
who will be in constant contact with public; must be able to
follow instructions and work independently; some computer
skills.
COMPENSATION: $7.25 per hour minimum and up, depending on
experience.

a.m.-8:00 p.m. on Monday-Thursday or 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on
Friday and Saturday.
